Project: TERMINAL 5 – HEATHROW AIRPORT TSA Role: Design of 11kV permanent distribution network Project Outline: TSA were appointed by EDF in 2000 to providean ongoing design and CAD service on the above project. The scheme comprisesapproximately 100No 11kV sub-stations withan estimated load of 60MW. As the project was in scheme design stage much of TSA’s early involvement was in producing
various options reports on the 11kV distribution network and comparing the options in terms of cost, fault resilience, power restoration and maintainability & operability. In addition to producing various reports TSA have been responsible for producing cost plans, single line diagrams, cable/equipment schedules, block wiring diagrams and cable routing plans and have been actively involved with other members of the T5 design team in all aspects of sub-station design, planning issues, size and locations. TSA have also provided a CAD service to the project either at the project office or from our Hayes office. This is an ongoing project with TSA’s involvement increasing as the project moves into detailed design stage. Summary: Demonstrates TSA’s ability to undertake large-scale complex projects and the confidence placed by LES in TSA’s abilities.
